If you love playing outdoor racket sports, you need a sunscreen that protects without stinging your eyes or making your hands greasy.

Ace your sun protection as we reveal the best sun creams for tennis and racket sports.

Best sunscreen for tennis players

Whether you’re new to racket sports or a tennis pro, you must protect your skin from the sun. The key to this is a non-greasy sunscreen designed for sports.

That’s where we come in. Our high-factor, 100% mineral sports sunscreens offer brilliant sun protection for tennis players and reflect to protect against ageing UVA and burning UVB.

Their natural, non-greasy formulas won’t leave your hands slippery so you can get a good grip on your racket. Better yet, these Peppermint-cool, water-repellent formulations have great staying power, meaning they won’t slip off and sting your eyes as you sweat.

They are even suitable for sensitive skin and those prone to prickly heat.

An excellent product and lives up to expectations. My husband likes the minty fragrance and applies the sun cream when he plays tennis. Rosemary S.

Tennis sunscreen for kids

Does your child love playing tennis? Make sure they stay protected on the court with our Organic Children SPF30 Sun Cream.

Ultra-gentle on sensitive skin, this natural sunscreen applies easily and offers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.

Sun creams for tennis spectators

And it's not just tennis players who need to protect against harmful UV rays; if you’re lucky enough to have tickets to Wimbledon or Eastbourne, or one of the many summer tennis tournaments around the world, you’ll likely be sitting outside and exposed to the sun for most of the day.

The Wimbledon Championships are notorious for rain delays, but even if it is overcast, wearing sunscreen at the tennis is a good idea.

Why? Harmful UVA rays can pass through cloud cover and interact with your skin. These won’t cause sunburn, but they can contribute to sun damage in later life, including wrinkles, age spots and melanoma.

To protect your skin and its future health, plan for the weather and pack a sun hat, water and plenty of sun cream.

Did you know that the longest tennis match in Grand Slam history took over 11 hours to complete? That equates to a lot of time outdoors for the players and the spectators[i].

Choose from any of our best-selling natural sunscreens and, just as with any sun cream, remember to re-apply liberally and regularly during your day.

Sun cream for tennis tournaments

For large tournaments like Wimbledon, pack a travel-size sun cream. This prestigious tennis championship strictly monitors what tennis spectators can bring into the ground. When we last checked their website, it stated that visitors' bags must be no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 30cm[ii].

To make it easy to carry your sun protection wherever you go, we offer a choice of travel-friendly SPF, including a 100ml version of our bestselling Scent Free Sun Cream SPF30.

If the play goes on late in the day and insects flock to the floodlit courts, you’ll also be glad you have our 100ml Soothing After Sun with Natural Insect Repellent. Its Aloe Vera core is oh-so soothing, and thanks to the addition of Citrepel®75, you get four hours of protection from biting insects with just one application.

How to get sun cream stains out of tennis whites

In the UK, many tennis clubs require players to sport tennis whites. While wearing white fabrics can have advantages, they are easily stained by sun cream filters. But you don’t have to worry about that.

To reduce the chances of sunscreen staining your tennis whites yellow, allow sun creams to fully soak into the skin before applying clothing. Tap your SPF into the skin to encourage absorption.

Be mindful that applying too much sun lotion can cause the excess product to sit on the skin surface and rub off onto clothing. If sun cream staining happens, wash the stained clothes when you return home from the tennis court and follow our sun cream stain removal tips.
