If you are suffering with male acne in your 20s, you aren’t alone! Research has shown that:

  • 42% of men in their 20s experience acne
  • 20% of men in their 30s experience acne
  • 12% of men in their 40s experience acne

Acne and spots are caused by excess skin oils and bacteria. You can help to support your skin by making a few small tweaks to your grooming and shower routine.

Best face products for men with spots

1. Face wash

Soap has been used by men for generations and is a quick and easy way to wash your skin but it can be a bit harsh for some skin types. If you are in your 20s and using soap, you may want to try a different type of product for washing your face.

The reason why soap and some other faces washes can irritate male skin is that soap has a high pH that is not well tolerated by skin and can contain harsh ingredients that are skin drying. If your skin thinks it’s too dry or imbalanced, it will then react to this by producing more sebum – a lubricating skin oil that appeals to acne bacteria.

It might take a few weeks for your skin to adjust to a soap-free grooming routine but soon you should notice that your skin is more balanced and you are less prone to spots.

Our best face wash for men in their 20s with spots or acne is the Oy Clear Skin Foaming Face Wash. It contains a highly concentrated level of spot-fighting actives that will help to keep young male skin calm and clear.

2. Face scrub

Clogged pores are one of the causes of spots and facial scrubs are a great way of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.

A couple of times a week, give your skin a deep clean with our Green People for Men No.1 Exfoliating Face Scrub.

Featuring a zingy Grapefruit aroma and deep cleansing Bamboo extract, it leaves skin clean and refreshed without causing irritation.

3. Moisturiser

Finish off your morning routine with a moisturiser contain anti-blemish actives. Our Green People for Men No.3 Cooling Moisturiser features Black Willow Bark, which helps to reduce blemish redness and control bacteria.

Best men’s body wash for back acne

Back acne (sometimes shortened to bacne) is a problem for many men in their 20s. It describes the spots that you get between your shoulder blades and these spots can be hard to reach with anti-blemish skin care.

Make sure your post-gym shower gel contains Bromelain. Featured in the Green People for Men - No. 5 Energising Shower Gel, Bromelain breaks down the bonds that hold dead skin cells to the body and helps to unblock congested pores.

Made without skin-drying actives such as SLS or soap, this organic body wash for men with acne is packed with natural scent from Peppermint and Eucalyptus to refresh mind and body.

4 more ways to tackle back acne

  • Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics as these can trap sweat against the skin
  • Thoroughly wash and rinse your back in your post-workout shower
  • Cool your shower temperature
  • Pat your shoulders dry with a towel after showering and dry your hair to stop residue from dripping onto the shoulders
